I was so sad to learn of your Mother's passing. She was a wonderful aunt. I have fond early memories of her and though we didn't get to see her very often, I always felt a closeness. I am so sorry to learn of your mother's death which was in the
Athens paper. I am Mattie Lou Hawkins's oldest daughter, and your parents and mine were very good friends. Mother died this Jan. at the age of 97. She often spoke of Betty and wondered how she was doing. Perhaps they are again fabric shopping together in Heaven!

Hi! Johnpeters,
As you go through the next couple days preparing to walk the last miles, my prayer and thoughts will be with the entire family.
I want to thank the entire family for letting me be a part of your moms life. We have shared some good times together. I wouldn't have given that up for nothing in the world. Mrs.Johnperter will always hold a special place in my heart.
I can remember the times we would ride in town and go to the Golden Coral to have lunch. I would seat her and go to the food bar and pick out for favorite foods(collard greens,blackpeas,mac/cheese,and some good ole fried chicken. She was such a LADY that she would not eat until I came back to the table with my food.
I can go on and on about Mrs. Johnpeters,but a thoundsand words can not express my feelings for her.

Since the passing several years ago of our mother, Kathleen, Betty's older sister, Betty has been the lovely and gracious matriarch of our family. We were most fortunate to have spent time with her at Skidaway, where she was the epitome of the southern hostess. She will be missed, but ever in our thoughts and memories.
