Dr. Joy Forrest Donaldson
Joy Forrest Donaldson passed away on July 29, 2010 at Hospice House. A native of Mobile, Alabama, she lived in Mentone and Orange Beach, Alabama and most recently, in Savannah.
Joy was formerly a professor of Special Education at the University of Louisville and was recognized for her advocacy for the intellectually disabled in the state of Kentucky. In more recent years, Joy pursued her artistic and creative gifts through her art, creating Sister Dragonfly, a gallery located in Louisville.
Joy will be remembered mostly for her loving and generous spirit. She is survived by her sister, Sheri Donaldson Estes; brother-in-law, Steven L. Estes, Jr.; niece, Melanie Estes Hoffman (Billy Hoffman); nephews, Steven L. Estes, III (Amy Dominy Estes) and Forrest Reuben Estes as well as her great nieces, great nephew and cousins.
A celebration service of Joy's life will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Washington Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31405.
