She was a member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School class, the Savannah Yacht Club and a charter member of the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society. A true Blufftonian, she loved to tell her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren stories about growing up on the bluff on the beautiful May River. She had many beloved friends, loved to play bridge and spend time with her family. Surviving are a daughter, Angela Hebert Straight (Roger) and children, George W. Straight II, Judith Straight Rushing (Steve) and three great grandchildren; two sons, Russell Benedict Hebert, Jr. (Judy) and children, Angela Hebert Hayden and two great grandchildren, Russell Hebert, III (Christy) and four great grandchildren, Wyck Hebert (Jodie) and two great grandchildren, Kathryn Hebert Tompkins (Stephen) and three great grandchildren; Paul Vincent Hebert (Bonnie) and two grandchildren, Caroline Crosby Hebert and Luke David Hebert; two stepsons, Ralph Richards Bowyer (Jane) and two grandchildren, Ruth Bowyer Weimar and Cathryn Bowyer, and Harry L.
