Doris Z. Means, 90, of Savannah, died Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at her residence under the care of Hospice Savannah and surrounded by her loving family

She was born April 8, 1922 and raised in Savannah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C. Means; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge Zipperer and a granddaughter, Amy Nicole Johnson. Mrs. Means graduated from Savannah High School and was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple for seventy-nine years since 1933. She taught Sunday School in the Pre-School Department for over fifty-seven years and was a member of the Craft Group and the Wednesday Morning Bible Study for Seniors. She was an honorary member of the Love Sunday School Class and was also a member of the Chapel Bible Class, the Calvary Reflections Exercise Group and also belonged to the Betty Boatwright Women Mission Group. Mrs. Means was an emeritus member of the Bethlehem Chapter #269 O.E.S. and a past Worthy Advisor of the Savannah Rainbow for Girls.

She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen M. and Mike Klawin of Savannah, Gail M. and Bill Lanier and Kathy M. and Steve Johnson both of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, Amanda McLester, Meghan Bazemore, Sarah Lanier Schumm, Kacey Lanier, Jessica and Geb Beasley; three great grandsons, Daniel Roland McLester, Noah McLester and Kaleb Murphy; two step-great grandsons; a twin sister, Dorothy Z. Kicklighter and a special niece Brenda K. Cook. Several nieces nephews and cousins also survive.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Temple.

Interment will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.
