SAVANNAH – Roy William Stogner, 90, died Thursday, June 21, 2012 in Savannah, GA.
Mr. Stogner was born on November 11, 1921 in Hamlet, North Carolina. He graduated from Hamlet High School and then moved to New Jersey. He entered Rutgers Preparatory School in New Brunswick, New Jersey and graduated in 1940. He was elected to Cum Laude, and was also awarded the Joyce Kilmer English and the Alexander Johnston History prizes.
Roy worked for McKesson & Robbins Co. and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He was assigned to the South Pacific and was one of the first troops to occupy Sendai, Japan in 1945.
Following his military tenure he entered Rutgers University as a marketing major and graduated in 1949. He then joined the Shulton Company as a Regional Sales Manager. In 1966 he joined MEM, Inc., who was the makers of English Leather as Vice President. He retired in 1987 and moved to The Landings in Savannah, GA.
Mr. Stogner is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol Ann Webster Stogner; sons, Jeffrey Paul Stogner (Elvira), Van Allen Stogner (Sandra) and Scott Arman Stogner (Stacey); step-children, Linda Sayre Griffith, Wendy Sayre Kane and James Van Vechten Sayre; 8 grandchildren and 10 step-grandchildren.

In accordance with his wishes, there will not be any services. A private memorial service will be held later in New Jersey.
